Joop started off his career as a systems engineer in 1990 designing and delivering computer networks and telematics services (KPN) after two years he was asked for a job as telematics consultant. He knows technology; the people behind it and can judge its potential for the future. For example. In San Francisco in 1994 Joop met with Vinton Cerf, the founder of the Internet. In 1995 Joop worked as an organisation consultant and spoke in Hawaii at INET 95 about the benefits and costs of Internet for commercial use. At that time the Internet was used by academia only and the browser to surf the internet was just invented. Nowadays connecting car’s, smart mobility, automated driving and robot-taxi’s are the next disruptive wave. Joop likes (to reduce) complexity and work with people (in teams) on a challenging and collective task. From 1992-2000 he worked and develop himself as a professional and organisation consultant at Twynstra.nl, Joop developed his skills in change-, project- and program management. He specialised in Knowledge Management, working with professor ir. M.C.D.P. Weggeman and put the concept into practise in many organisations. Besides organising change this required a thorough understanding of Human Resource Management and People- or talent development as well. As off 2000, Joop developed as an entrepreneur. Together with three partners Joop founded his own consultancy on knowledge and change management. Proven Partners. Serving clients from industry, government and non-profit with about twenty consultants., this was a great opportunity to develop his management skills, marketing, finance, planning and control and coaching professionals. In this company all consultants where managers and vice-versa. So besides managing Joop was working as a principle consultant at the same time. Helping clients to manage and share knowledge and put technology and innovations to use for their organisation, business process, or the purpose of their network of community. In 2008, Joop sold his shares and continued as a privately owned network consultancy on knowledge and innovation management (VPS). As a professional he felt the urge to change change management. Starting with his own view on this. Joop worked with The University of Humanistic Studies (2010-2012) on how people give meaning to their life, work and change by shared experiences. He established a non-profit network of organisational coaches and wrote a book about reflection on human behaviour in changing organisations. This was based on a change simulator and a serious game that was attended by 250 local government organisations that where struggling to put e-Government in practice in the Netherlands. Besides coaching Joop used his technological and managerial background in this period to work as a management consultant at the Dutch Ministry of Internal affairs and assisted management teams in local governments on the use of information technology to improve their service, processes and organisations. In 2014 Joop founded the company Public-Development VOF with a partner that currently provides education services. 2008-2015. Still working as a consultant knowledge- and innovation management, Joop implemented knowledge management at the Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Public Works and worked as a strategic consultant. This includes exploring new developments that can innovate, change or disrupt business processes. The use of telematics to achieve smart mobility is an example of this. Joop participated in the Forever Open Roads Innovation Program of the EU to create and maintain an efficient and safe road network in Europe and improve the quality of live. In 2013 Joop facilitated an innovation session where the attendants discussed the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of driverless cars. Joop was triggered by this discussion. The impact of this development on automotive, mobility and the society will be huge! Joop decided to specialise himself on the subject and acquired a position in a team to advise the minister of Infrastructure on the Dutch policy on the subject in 2014. This policy is to facilitate large scale testing on Dutch Public Roads and to learn by doing and acquire knowledge in a network of Universities, Research, OEM’s, Car-Manufacturers, Insurance companies, Governments and all others involved or impacted by this development. Joop has facilitated this process and worked with the Knowledge Institute on Mobility (KIM) on the long-term scenarios for the deployment of automated vehicles in the Netherlands. Joop developed a good relations with the technical University’s and Global Innovative Car manufacturers and OEM’s like: Audi, Toyota, Volvo, Nissan, Google X, BMW, Tesla, Renault, Porsche, GM, etc. Joops current assignment at the Ministry is to support the project on automated vehicle's with knowledge management, enabling large scale testing of automated vehicle's on public roads. At Connekt a network of over 125 people where gathered this year to define a knowledge and research agenda for automated Vehicles on knowledge area's like: legal, technical, deployment, impact and human factors. Joop has furthermore setup a digital knowledge platform to share (international) knowledge documents. De-central road authorities where addressed by Joop to create awareness By the end of 2016 Joop Founded a new company with Alwin Bakker (former wepods.nl). This network company is all about putting new mobility in large scale practice. http://thefuturemobiltiy.network was born. Pleas visit the site and join our efforts. Joop visited AUVSI Symposia in San Francisco (2014, 2016,2017) and Detroit (2015) to network and gather knowledge and was invited by the Japanese Government innovation Program (SIP-ads) to discover best practices for automatic driving from Japan and was honoured to speak on the subject of connected/cooperative vehicles in Europe. |
